Green Bay Packers have announced that Za’Darius Smith will be on IR for at least the next three weeks, so in the meantime, the team is looking for linebacker help.

According to Tom Silverstein, the Packers are signing Ladrius Hamilton to its 53-man roster after the news of Smith heading to the injured reserve with a back injury.

Hamilton was recently on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad. He’s a first-year player of North Texas and is a 6-foot-3, 260 pounds outside linebacker.

The former Buccaneer also played with the Dallas Cowboys in the preseason. In college, Hamilton appeared in 51 games during a four-year career. He’s tied for sixth in program history in career sacks (17.0) and tackles for loss (28.5).

Hamilton was undrafted in 2020, but in his last season with the Mean Green in 2019, he totaled 8.5 sacks, 39 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble.

Smith will miss the Monday Night Football game against the Detriot Lions, then he’ll miss the San Fransico 49ers, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Preston Smith and Rashan Gary will be the top edge rushers for the Packers.
