Don’t be surprised by LB De’Vondre Campbell and RB Aaron Jones being inactive today. Both were listed as Questionable on Friday’s Week 18 Injury Report and are the exact type of player who should sit in a meaningless game like today’s.
Campbell’s injury (elbow) was a new one as he was not on the report in Week 17. Jones’ listing is the knee that’s been bothering him for over a month and has forced him to leave the past two games early. The Green Bay Packers made the smart move by sitting both – sometimes, you have to protect players from themselves.
CB Jaire Alexander and DL Kingsley Keke are formalities as both were ruled Out on Friday.
S Shawn Davis has not been active for a game since being added to the Active Roster.
The final two inactives are somewhat surprising in C Jake Hanson and DL Jack Heflin.
Hanson, while being C4 on the depth chart, was likely to see snaps in the event the starting OL was rested later in the game. It’s unlikely Bakhtiari and Myers play the whole game, but having Hanson inactive likely signals the team will just rotate those two with LT Yosh Nijman and C/G Lucas Patrick respectively, the players who have started in the formers’ place.
Heflin’s listing is surprising as Keke was ruled out on Friday. While DL Abdullah Anderson was elevated from the Practice Squad for today’s game, you’d expect Heflin, a player the team raved about during the preseason, would see a healthy dose of snaps in the wake of star DL Kenny Clark being removed from the game and even starter Dean Lowry likely being given the 2nd half off as well.
Enjoy today’s game. Remember, the only things that matter for the Green Bay Packers getting through with no new injuries and seeing Bakhtiari and Myers look comfortable and gaining traction with the rest of the OL.
