The Green Bay Packers are 7-1. They won a big road game against Arizona with a short-handed team.

Yes indeed. Just believe.

The Green Bay Packers are 7-1. What a ride that was. They won 24-21 when Rasul Douglas picked off Kyler Murray with less than 20 seconds left.

They truly got contributions from everyone on the 46-man gameday roster. Here are some of my thoughts on the Packers getting to 7-1.

1.) Matt LaFleur. Aaron Rodgers. Great coach. All-time great quarterback. Whenever you have those two things, you always have a chance to win. A lot of pundits were counting the Packers out as soon it was announced Davante Adams would be unable to play. I wasn’t one of them. I picked the Packers to win earlier this week. I stuck by that.

The aforementioned points are the biggest reason why. It wasn’t the sexiest game from Aaron Rodgers. It wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing, but it was as good as you could ask. Kudos to both of those guys.

2.) Matt LaFleur mentioned having some issues with himself after the game in regards to how he handled the red zone. I agree with him. One resulted in 3 points after a turnover. One resulted in zero. The fourth-down play was the most egregious. When you’re running the ball down their throat, just ram it down their throat.

3.) On the aforementioned play, I could hear Jerry Kramer quoting Vince Lombardi. If you can’t gain a yard you don’t deserve to be champions! Thankfully tonight, the Packers were able to overcome that.

4.) Somebody build Rasul Douglas a damn statue.

5.) In all seriousness. I don’t know how you take Douglas off the field when Alexander returns. He’s been very good. What a find by Brian Gutekunst and the personnel group.

6.) AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones. They really are a special pairing. Toughness. Balance. Big play ability. This was a game where the Packers needed to lean on them. They responded to the challenge.

7.) Dean Lowry continues to play well. Put some respect on his name.

8.) Whitney Mercilus is close man. It’s going to happen soon.

9.) Rashan Gary’s luck in terms of getting sacks never ceases to amaze me. He blows through the RT on the first play of the game and gets a facemask penalty.

10.) The Packers really did go into Arizona against an undefeated Cardinals team and won without four of their six best players.

11.) Put some damn respect on Matt LaFleur’s name. He’s 33-7 in his first 40 games. I don’t care that he has Aaron Rodgers. Plenty of other coaches have great players on their team. NONE of them have ever done this.

12.) Aaron Rodgers is coming back to Green Bay in 2022. Listen to him talk in his post game availability. That guy ain’t leaving.

13.) Tell me this team doesn’t need Randall Cobb. Every play he makes is a big one.

14.) Amari Rodgers might be a player for this team some day. That’s not going to be in 2021. He has struggled as a punt returner. He’s starting to find his footing in the offense. Give him some plays to boost his confidence, but he’s not someone that should be relied on.

15.) This game won’t be the prettiest for Aaron Rodgers, but I thought he played really well. This was a preseason-esque depth chart at wide receiver tonight. They were playing a defense with some really good players. He did enough to win. Kudos to 12.

16.) Gotta feel for Bob Tonyan. He was just starting to hit his stride. Now, we all hold our breath and hope he’s not lost for the season.

17.) 7-1 headed into a stretch of:

@ KC

SEA

@ MIN

LAR

Green Bay is going to stumble at some point, but they’ve put themselves in really good position to be in the discussion for top team in the NFC.

18.) See you soon David Bakhtiari, MVS, Jaire Alexander, and the rest of the injured/reserve group. Cannot wait to see what this team looks like at something resembling full strength.
